"Celebrity Squares" (1975-1979, 1993-1994)
Length: 30 minutes | Episodes: | Channel: ITV
'Celebrity Squares' was an ITV game show that first appeared in 1975 and ran to 1979 but then was decommissioned by ITV. The show later experienced a revival in 1993 and ran to 1994.
'Celebrity Squares' was hosted by Bob Monkhouse on both occasions. The voice-over announcing the celebrities and introducting Bob was first done by Kenny Everett, when the series was first aired. But in the later series it was supplied by Nick Jackson.
The show is basically noughts and crosses, however the board is filled with a celebrities who sit in each square, hence the name. The celebrity is asked a question and the contestants have to predict if they will answer correctly or incorrectly. If the contestant predicts the right outcome then they win the square. The winner is the first person to get a row or a line, or to get five squares.
